Short Biography

Dr. Laura Keith was born in Murfreesboro and moved to Shelbyville when she was in grade school. She started working in her father’s optometry practice when she was fourteen and earned her CPO (certification for optometry staff) in 2005. She married her amazing husband Kenny in 2007.

Dr. Keith graduated with her Degree in Opticianry from Roane State Community College in 2008. She worked as a licensed optician for ten years before attending optometry school. She graduated with her Bachelor’s from MTSU in 2018 and was accepted into University of Pikeville Kentucky’s Optometry program. Dr. Keith, her husband, and her four precious children all moved for her to attend school and serve in the mountains of northeastern Kentucky. During her time in Kentucky she was blessed to be able to perform multiple laser procedures and minor surgical procedures on patients while honing her skills and nurturing her passion for patient care. While she was in optometry school she was able to put her experience in opticianry to good use. She was asked to assist with teaching labs, tutor ophthalmic optics courses, tutor contact lens courses, along other subjects. Upon graduation, she received multiple awards  including VSPs Clinical Excellence Award, Vistakon’s Contact Lens Excellence Award, among others.

Dr. Keith values patient care and seeks to treat every patient as though they were family. She has a heart for serving others and is excited to be back in Murfreesboro to serve families of all ages with compassion. In her spare time, Dr. Keith loves to travel with her family, attending church with her family,  baking, volunteering with remote area medical, and spending time with friends.
